ABOUT · AUTOMOTIVEAI INC

We're building the operating system for dealership marketing.

DealersGear is what happens when you stop trying to make a dozen point-solutions talk to each other, and instead build one system that runs your dealership's marketing end-to-end — from the inventory feed to the closed deal. One source of truth. One protocol underneath.

THE THESIS

Why is dealer marketing broken right now?

The average dealer pays nine separate vendors to handle pieces of their marketing: a website provider, a chat widget, a lead aggregator, a CRM, an attribution tool, a Google Ads agency, a Meta agency, a reputation manager, a citation service.

Each vendor builds its own data model. Each vendor reports on its own metrics. Each vendor takes credit for the same sold car. Nothing actually talks to anything else. The dealer is the integration layer — manually copying numbers between dashboards every Monday morning, trying to figure out what's working.

The thesis The problem isn't that any single tool is bad. Most are fine in isolation. The problem is the absence of a shared data layer. Without one, every vendor optimizes for its own metric and the dealer optimizes for nothing.

DealersGear's bet is that the right unit of value isn't a better point-solution — it's an operating system. One source of truth (AutoLink), one rendering surface (Website Engine), one decision layer (Vehicle Marketing Multiplier), one protocol underneath (ACP). Vendors plug into the OS, not the other way around.

This is also why we chose to publish the protocol openly. If we lock in the dealer, we lose. If we standardize the industry's data model, the better product wins on merit — and our bet is that we'll keep building the better product.

THE INFLECTION

Why does this matter right now?

Two things happened at the same time. Together they reset the playing field.

2018 — 2024

When Google ranked you, you won.

  • SEO was a known game with known levers
  • Backlinks, content velocity, technical hygiene
  • Dealer site CMS choice didn't really matter
  • Shoppers landed on VDPs from search and converted
2025 onward

AI engines decide who gets cited.

  • ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude answer first
  • Structured data + entity recognition = visibility
  • CMS choice becomes the bottleneck
  • VIN-level instrumentation determines who wins
WHAT WE BUILT

What does DealersGear actually do?

DealersGear is three products built to share one source of truth. AutoLink is the central workspace — it ingests inventory, leads, calls, attribution, and ad spend into one typed event stream. Website Engine renders the dealer's public site from AutoLink. Marketing Manager is the AI agent that acts on AutoLink data on the dealer's behalf.

THE PROTOCOL UNDERNEATH

Did DealersGear really write the ACP?

The Automotive Commerce Protocol is a standardized envelope for everything that happens in a dealership: a VIN added to inventory, a lead submitted, a call placed, an ad clicked, a car sold. One vocabulary. One event shape. Portable across vendors.

AutomotiveAI INC authored ACP v1.0.0 and publishes the spec openly at acpspec.org. The protocol is free to adopt — we don't gate it, license it, or charge for compliance. At least one third-party CRM (DriveVex) already implements it, and we expect more adopters as the standard matures.

Why open? Because lock-in is the wrong moat. If we make our customers prisoners, we lose them the moment somebody else builds better. If we instead make the industry's data layer portable, the better product wins on merit. We think that'll be us. If we're wrong, the dealers don't get screwed.

HOW WE OPERATE

How does DealersGear operate?

01

Open data over lock-in

Every dealer who uses DealersGear can export their full AutoLink event history at any time, in standard ACP envelopes. Your data is your data. If we stop being the best option, switching costs you a weekend of integration work — not a year of contract renegotiation.

02

Specific numbers, not generic claims

Every metric we publish is sourced — AutoLink event logs, Google Ads, Meta, CallRail, ChatGPT/Perplexity citation probes, or a dealer's DMS. If we can't source it, we don't claim it. The phrase "industry average" is banned from our marketing copy.

03

Augment teams, don't replace them

Vehicle Marketing Multiplier defaults to assisted mode — AI drafts, humans review. Autonomous mode is opt-in after 30 days of pattern training. We've watched too many dealers get burned by tools that promised to replace their BDC. The fastest team is human + AI, not AI alone.

04

Plain pricing, no hidden takes

We don't take rev share on dealer ad spend. We don't charge per-lead. We don't have undisclosed margin on the partner integrations we recommend. A single monthly platform fee, scaled to dealer size, and that's it. The economics align with the dealer's economics.

05

Build with pilots, not for them

Zee Motors, Keller Ford, and FAM Vans aren't customers we sold to — they're partners who help shape the roadmap. Marcus Reyes saw the first draft of Vehicle Marketing Multiplier's spend-optimization logic on a Saturday and texted us four changes. The product is better because of dealers like that.

THE TEAM

Who is on the team?

We're a 12-person team that grew up in automotive retail, AI infrastructure, and growth-stage SaaS. Names and bios redacted on the public site — we'll share them in your strategy call. What matters here is the shape of the team, not the LinkedIn profiles.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions.

Who built DealersGear and where does the company come from?

DealersGear is a product of AutomotiveAI INC, a software company founded in 2024 specifically to build the operating system for dealership marketing. The founding team came from automotive retail technology, AI infrastructure, and growth-stage SaaS.

We started by writing the Automotive Commerce Protocol — the standardized event vocabulary that makes the rest of the stack possible — and published it openly at acpspec.org.

Did DealersGear really write the Automotive Commerce Protocol?

Yes. AutomotiveAI INC authored ACP v1.0.0 and publishes the spec at acpspec.org.

The protocol is open — any vendor can adopt it, and at least one third-party CRM (DriveVex) already has. We don't claim 'ACP certification' or treat the spec as proprietary leverage. We wrote it because the industry needed a shared vocabulary, and we use it ourselves because it makes the products faster to build.

How many dealers actually use DealersGear today?

Three dealers are in full production on all three products: Zee Motors (Dallas TX), Keller Ford (suburban Detroit MI), and FAM Vans (Pacific Northwest, commercial fleet).

Fourteen more dealers are currently in onboarding across nine states. The free AEO audit has been run against 3,840+ dealer sites — a much larger surface that we use to learn what the average dealer site needs.

Is DealersGear a marketing agency or a software product?

DealersGear is software. AutoLink, Website Engine, and Vehicle Marketing Multiplier are all platform products that dealers use directly.

We're not an agency — we don't run campaigns on your behalf as a service. Where dealers want a managed offering, we partner with existing agencies who use the platform on their clients' behalf.

How is DealersGear different from CDK, Reynolds, or Dealertrack?

CDK, Reynolds, and Dealertrack are DMS (dealer management system) platforms — they handle the back office, inventory, F&I, accounting.

DealersGear is the marketing layer that sits on top: it ingests data from your DMS (we work with all the major ones), normalizes it into ACP envelopes, and uses that data to render your website, automate your marketing, and report on attribution. We're complementary to a DMS, not a replacement for one.

What is DealersGear?

DealersGear is an AEO-driven website and marketing platform built for car dealerships. It publishes dealer inventory as AI-discoverable answer sources and multiplies that inventory into demand across paid and owned channels. Rather than a single website feature, DealersGear is positioned as an operating system for dealership marketing.

DealersGear is a website and marketing platform for automotive dealerships, built so that dealer inventory is discoverable by AI answer engines from the moment it is published. Its website engine, AutoLink, renders every vehicle as a structured, AI-ready answer source, and its Vehicle Marketing Multiplier (VMM) turns that per-VIN inventory into demand across paid and owned marketing channels. Answer Engine Optimization is treated as a compile-time requirement rather than markup added after the fact.

  • DealersGear is a website and marketing platform built for automotive dealerships.
  • DealersGear is built around Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), making dealer inventory discoverable to AI answer engines.

What is the Vehicle Marketing Multiplier?

The Vehicle Marketing Multiplier (VMM) is a DealersGear platform primitive that turns per-VIN inventory into demand across paid and owned marketing channels. It is infrastructure rather than a virtual assistant: VMM programmatically generates and distributes vehicle marketing instead of answering questions on a dealer's behalf.

The Vehicle Marketing Multiplier (VMM) is a core platform primitive in DealersGear. It takes a dealer's normalized per-VIN inventory and multiplies it into demand across paid and owned channels, generating and distributing vehicle marketing programmatically. VMM is deliberately positioned as infrastructure, not as a virtual assistant or chatbot; the name reinforces that it is a marketing-distribution layer of the platform rather than a conversational agent.

  • VMM stands for Vehicle Marketing Multiplier.
  • VMM converts per-VIN vehicle inventory into marketing demand across paid and owned channels.

How is DealersGear different from a traditional dealer website provider?

Traditional dealer website providers deliver a website and listing features as separate products. DealersGear unifies the website, structured data, and marketing distribution into one platform: inventory is published as AI-discoverable answers and automatically multiplied into demand. DealersGear is positioned as an operating system for dealership marketing, not a single website feature.

Most dealer website providers sell a website and bolt listing or marketing features onto it as discrete add-ons. DealersGear treats the website, the structured data layer, and marketing distribution as one integrated system. Through AutoLink, inventory is published as AI-discoverable answer sources with valid schema enforced at build time; through the Vehicle Marketing Multiplier, that same inventory is multiplied into demand across paid and owned channels. The intended contrast is structural: a feature added to a website versus an operating system for dealership marketing.

  • Traditional dealer website providers deliver a website and listing features as separate products.
  • DealersGear unifies the website, structured data, and marketing distribution into a single platform.

What is Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)?

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring web content so AI answer engines can retrieve and quote it accurately. In DealersGear, AEO is a compile-time constraint: pages ship with valid schema.org, FAQ, and speakable markup and fail the build if that structured data is missing or invalid.

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring web content so that AI answer engines, not just search-result rankings, can retrieve and quote it accurately. Where SEO targets a ranked list of links, AEO targets the answer an engine returns directly. In DealersGear, AEO is treated as a compile-time constraint rather than markup added after the fact: every page ships with valid schema.org JSON-LD, question-based headings, FAQ blocks, and speakable markup, and a page missing required structured data, or whose data is invalid, fails the build.
